Is It Me Or Is Time Speeding Up?
I had a great weekend meeting up with some university friends who live on the Gower. We went for a long walk visiting several beaches and reminisced about the past, put the world to rights as well as making predictions about the forthcoming six nations rugby tournament.
It seemed like yesterday that we were students and the time has gone in a blink of an eye. As I’ve got older it feels like time is flying by – I can’t believe it’s the end of January already!
Over a pub lunch and a few pints of Gower Gold, we agreed not to leave it so long before meeting up again. Despite how busy we are, it’s always good to meet up with old friends.
When working with clients and helping them design their best lives, it is often the case that the ideal lifestyle doesn’t involve great expense.
Wealth provides security, flexibility and peace of mind and it enables us to do the things we’ve always wanted to do. However, spending time with friends and family, going for a walk and a nice pub lunch often doesn’t cost very much but may involve some effort especially when we are so busy.
Given how quickly time passes and none of us truly knows what’s round the corner, making time for friends and family is certainly worth the extra effort.
Box Sets, Films and Documentaries
During the cold dark days of December and January, I’ve managed to catch up on some box sets, films and documentaries I’ve been meaning to watch.
The Detectorists (BBC) – I binged watched this over Christmas and it’s absolutely brilliant. I’ll never look at University Challenge in the same way again!
All Quiet on the Western Front (Netflix) – I remember watching the original version as a student and whilst I don’t think the latest version is quite as good, it is still a very powerful anti-war film.
Financial Scandal
There has been a number of documentaries on financial scandals over recent months and those that have stood out include:
Madoff – The Monster of Wall Street (Netflix) – This documentary looks at how Bernie Madoff was able to operate his infamous Ponzi scheme.
Skandal! Bringing Down Wirecard (Netflix) – This looks at the fall of the financial services company that was once viewed as a German success story.
Billion Dollar Downfall (BBC) – This documentary is about Abraaj Capital and its founder who is now facing allegations of fraud.
